Getting Rid of Pimples 101

A pimple, sometimes called as a zit or spot, is everyone’s worst nightmare. Waking up in the morning and seeing a red dot on your face will surely give you a headache. What we don’t know is that we don’t get it overnight.

Pimple is a kind of acne which is the result of the excess sebum, oil that lubricates the skin and hair, trapped in the pores. Hormonal overdrive is the main cause of these red spots which makes it common to teenagers. Before its outbreaks, pimple is already in the process of forming for 2-3 weeks. Of course, they can’t be eradicated completely but they can be prevented. Here’s how:

  1. Try to get on time and enough sleep everyday.

  2. Eat three healthy meals and drink at least eight glasses of water daily.

  3. Wash your face daily for not more than 2-3 times. Excessive washing of the face may dry up and irritate your face.

  4. Apply hot compress to your pimples. It will speed up your pimples’ healing process.

  5. Avoid using caps or a hat too often and try to keep your hair off of your face as much as possible.

  6. Avoid too much exposure from the sun.

  7. Try wearing an oil-free makeup as much as possible.

  8. Fabric softeners may leave irritating residue on your skin so try not to use it in washing your clothes.

  9. Stay away from coffee. Caffeine messes with our hormones which lead to outbreaks.

  10. Keep your hands off! Don’t touch your face too often or play with your pimples to prevent infection and scarring.

Follow these steps religiously and say bye-bye pimples!
